Programs and Services

St. John Catholic Elementary School offers many programs and services to meet the individual needs of all of our students.

Breakfast Program

Our popular Breakfast Program serves approximately 150 students a day, and begins the first week of school. The Breakfast Program is funded by the Foods for Kids program and through donations. Donations of apples, oranges, bananas, marble cheese, apple juice, bread, bagels and margarine are gratefully accepted, and help to keep our students nourished and ready to learn.

The program is open to all students and runs out of the school's basement from 8:40 a.m to 8:50 a.m. for students who walk to school, and from 8:50 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for students who arrive by bus. The program is staffed by volunteers who promote healthy living, value a healthy breakfast, and who are willing to donate one to two hours of their time in the morning. If you are available to volunteer on a weekday morning, please give the school a call and speak with our co-ordinator, Lisa Evans, at (705) 745-4113, Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 4:00.

Child Care & Family Hub

In addition, Nursery Two, a child care centre, and Peterborough Family Resource Centre's Family Hub runs out of our school and have their own separate entrances. You can learn more about Nursery Two under Child Care and the St. John Family Hub under Family Resource Centre.

Special Education

Our School Board also delivers programs and supports that enable all students to reach their highest potential. Visit Special Education Services and learn about the Board's Autism classrooms, Snoezelen rooms, and speech and language services.
